“Maestro Loebel has done a superb job of leading our orchestra for seven years. He is highly regarded by musicians and audiences alike. We are very fortunate that he has agreed to extend his service in Memphis,” says Jeff Sanford, chairman of the Memphis Orchestral Society Board of Directors.

Loebel has led the MSO since 1999. During his tenure, the MSO has won awards for its adventuresome programming four times.

Vincent L. Danner, associate conductor of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, will join the faculty of Oberlin College Conservatory of Music (his alma mater) as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education in February 2007.

Danner, who graduated from Oberlin, will remain conductor of the Memphis Youth Symphony program. He has been with both the MSO and the MYS for 12 years.

In other MSO news, Lisa Dixon returns to the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in the newly created position of operations and community engagement manager. Most of her day-to-day duties will focus on the operation of the orchestra and its concerts. However, she will also be responsible for establishing new ties with civic and non-profit groups in the Mid-South.
