Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen recently announced the appointment of five new members to the Tennessee Board of Regents to fill vacancies on the administrative body. The board governs Tennessee’s state university network and 13 community colleges.

An estimated 156,700 students are presently registered in these state-directed institutions.


 
 Duckett

The new appointees include:  John Boots Jr. of Cookville, Tenn., a senior who holds the office of  president of the Tennessee Technological University’s student government assocation;  Gregory Duckett, senior vice president at Baptist Hospital  in Memphis and a member of he Shelby County Election Commission;  Scott McMillan, a professor of English, history, and political science at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin; Millard Oakley,  a past member of the Tennessee House of Representative and former Tennessee Commissioner of Insurance and Commerce; and J. Stanley Rogers Middle Tennessee Member-at-Large of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
