As the preseason grinds on, the Memphis Grizzlies take on Rio de Janeiro Flemengo on Friday (Oct. 17th) at FedExForum. It will be the second preseason home game, following a 93-88 victory over the Atlanta Hawks last Saturday (Oct. 11).
The Grizz will take the home court after falling on the road to the Kevin Durant-less Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. It was OKC’s first game since perennial All Start Durant went down with an injury that will keep him sidelined for several weeks.
Have you stopped to think lately about how totally used and abused the words “real” and “reality” are on things and people that aren’t? The spate of television shows with misnomers of the “real” this and that as well as “reality” shows of every ilk do not fool the public. They know better.
On Tuesday evening and into the wee hours of Wednesday morning, The LeMoyne-Owen College hosted Midnight Madness, a showcase of its 2014 men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The event was part skills showcase, part rap concert, part Greek step show, and all around “a lot of fun, and good for the students,” said second year athletic director Clint Jackson. “It’s good to get the students out of the dorms and here to support our teams.”
OKLAHOMA CITY— As Russell Westbrook sat out for two months while recovering from knee surgery last season, he watched Kevin Durant emerge as a leader.
Westbrook said two things stood out most about the way Durant picked up the slack for him — the stream of victories and the way Durant showed confidence in his teammates who also had to take on more significant roles.
In Oklahoma City's first preseason action since learning that Durant would be out with a Jones fracture in his right foot, Westbrook showed that same kind of confidence in his teammates and got similar results. He had 14 points and 12 assists in three quarters as the Thunder beat the Grizzlies 117-107 on Tuesday night.
OXFORD, Miss. — Mississippi coach Hugh Freeze says he has talked with defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche about a blurry photo circulating the internet that shows a person holding a bong.
Freeze would not confirm if it was Nkemdiche in the photo or if he had done anything illegal, though the coach did say the picture was taken in August.
