Opinion: More Poor in the Suburbs Is Good For Emanuel

    In what has to be great news for Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s re-election prospects, a new study by the Brookings Institutions finds that the number of poor people living in Chicago’s suburbs has increased 99 percent in the past 10 years.

    4 Dead, 14 Wounded in Weekend Violence

      Three people were fatally shot in the head and another shot dead in the chest in weekend violence that wounded at least 14 others across Chicago, according to police.

        CTU Holds March, Rallies Against School Closings

          Teachers, parents and students marched on the South and West Sides Saturday in the beginning of a three-day protest against the shuttering of 54 Chicago schools.
          Organized by the Chicago Teachers Union, the protest is expected to continue into Monday evening with rallies at the Daly Plaza and City Hall.
