While dieting, you may drop lbs. and ‘eating buddies’ – stay the course

Dear Lucy: Recently, I went on a serious diet and lost a lot of weight. ... But, I have also lost my friends that I used to hang out with. I had to stop going out to eat with them.

Dear Lucy:

Recently, I went on a serious diet and lost a lot of weight. Since I have been on this diet, I have also learned how to do things like read, watch calming or funny movies and just find all sorts of ways to fill my time doing something other than eating! All of this is good. But, I have also lost my friends that I used to hang out with. I had to stop going out to eat with them and they just gradually stopped talking to me. This really hurts but the doctor said I absolutely had to lose the weight or expect to have a stroke or something! But, losing my friends really hurts.

– JB

Dear JB:

I am so happy and rejoice with you over your weight loss and your new lifestyle. I am also sad for the loss of your friends. One of my Facebook friends posted a quote the other day that said, “I told God to protect me from my enemies and I started losing friends.”

Now I am not calling your friends your enemies, but do you know that one of the top five reasons why people don’t attempt to lose weight is the fear of losing their friends or family? After all, if we are social and fill our time with occasions centered on eating, who are our friends? Other people who also love to eat.

Maybe all you really had in common with your friends was eating. Perhaps, now you will simply find friends who love great movies and great books. If you exercise or walk, you will find friends who do those things, too.

Your old eating buddies may never tell you, but you can bet that you are an inspiration to them!

You inspire me!

Good day! I know this is kinda off topic however , I'd figured I'd ask.
Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa?
My website discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours
and I feel we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you're interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail.

I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!
