Reggie Taylor Unanimously Selected as East Point's New City Manager

Reggie Taylor is East Point's new City Manager

The East Point City Council announced that Reggie Taylor is the new East Point City Manager. Taylor was unanimously selected to hold the post and brings years of municipal experience from previous positions in Georgia as well as Illinois.

Taylor will succeed Siegfried Jones who stepped in and served as the City of East Point's Interim City Manager.

"I absolutely support [Taylor]," said East Point City Councilman E. Alexander Gothard, "and having a city manager will now allow us to focus on our long-term goals for the city.

Gothard added, "I am excited for the future of East Point. I am also very appreciative of the work of our interim city manger, Siegfried Jones. He stepped into a difficult role and performed well."

Prior to being named city manager, Taylor worked for the the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation, which he joined in 2008 as executive director. There, he was responsible for the management and operations of the corporation as well as administration of the city of Marietta's tax allocation districts, the Marietta fund for neighborhood and community revitalization and the quasi-organizational Marietta-Cobb New Markets Fund, Inc.

Professionally he has more than 10 years of urban planning, community and economic development as well as affordable housing experience. Before his appointment as the executive director of the MRC he served as a public service administrator with the state of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, serving the northern stateline region.

Taylor is also a former two-term member of the Illinois Winnebago County board serving the citizens of District 12 from 2000 to 2004. While on the county board, he served as chairman of the legislative committee and a member of the public safety and economic development committees. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

As of his appointment, his name must be posted for two weeks and he will begin serving pending background and reference checks.
