Who's Who Publishing - a leading source celebrating African-American achievement – has announced M. Alexis Scott as the introduction writer for the 14th edition of Who's Who In Black Atlanta. Scott, publisher of the Atlanta Daily World is responsible for editorial content and management of the paper.
Founded in 1928 by W.A. Scott II, M. Alexis Scott's grandfather, The Atlanta Daily World became the nation's first black-owned daily newspaper; and now, under the Real Times Media umbrella, has joined the Chicago Defender, the Michigan Chronicle, The Michigan Front Page, the New Pittsburg Courier and the Tri-State Defender (Memphis, Tennessee) – all of which are historic African-American newspapers.
An Atlanta native, Scott has established a rock-solid foundation in the world of journalism. Prior to joining the Atlanta Daily World, she worked with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Cox Enterprises, Inc., for 22 years; serving as reporter, editor, vice president of community affairs at the Journal-Constitution and then director of diversity at Cox.
In addition to Scott's duties at the newspaper, she is a featured commentator on "The Georgia Gang," a week-in-review program on politics on FOX 5 in Atlanta. She is also a member of the board of directors of Atlanta Life Financial Group. Scott is actively engaged with non-profit organizations; and serves on several boards for organizations that impact the Atlanta community.
