The sequel to the 1994 Jim Carrey comedy “Dumb and Dumber,” aptly titled “Dumb and Dumber To” started preparatory work Monday in Atlanta, Joey McFarland the vice chairman of Red Granite told the Wall Street Journal. The film will also likely be doing some casting in the area.

Red Granite, the studio behind Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street,” has confirmed the release date for the film will be summer 2014, 20 years after the bow of its predecessor.

Carrey and Jeff Daniels have both signed on to reprise their roles of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, respectively. Bobby and Peter Farrelly, who wrote and directed the first film, will co-direct and co-produce the sequel. McFarland said there will also be a "significant" female character in the film who has not yet been cast, which is part of the reason he's headed to Atlanta.

The original film, made for $17 million, has grossed $247 million worldwide to date.

There was no official word from Red Granite on where in Atlanta the filming would take place or when it would begin.
