An autopsy is scheduled today for the body of a 32-year-old female East Point police officer who was found shot to death in her Heritage Park home on Sunday night. The autopsy will be performed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.
East Point police have identified the slain officer as Corporal Crystal A. Parker, the 2012 officer of the year, according to WSB.
Police were called to the scene of Parker's house when her mother called police to check up on her daughter. The victim's mother said she hadn't heard from her daughter since the previous week.
A neighbor told WSB-TV that officer 's home was broken into a couple weeks ago.
"The last conversation we had, she stated they had broken into her home," Destiny Jones told WSB-TV.
On Sunday, East Point officers gathered at police headquarters in response to the incident.
The victim was with the department for seven years and her name had previously not been released by the department. The police department released her name just before 9 a.m., WSB reported.
