Two robberies in Reynoldstown and a murder in East Atlanta that happened over Memorial Day weekend may be connected and police now have a sketch of the man they think is responsible.
APD released the sketch of one suspect they say was involved in both the robberies and the shooting. That suspect then jumped into a waiting car with the other and sped off, according to the police report.
"We're looking for two, maybe three, suspects," APD spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon said.
Investigators from the Atlanta Police Department say the suspects are all teenagers, who in a span of 30 minutes held up a couple visiting from North Carolina at gunpoint and robbed a jogger. Then at 11 p.m. one allegedly shot a man named Patrick Cotrona as he walked from his home to a bar in the East Atlanta village after robbing him, police say without cause or warning.
Cotrona's roommate, Marcus Peden, was shot in the leg but fought back the suspects with pepper spray, according to police.
Police also released a sketch of a suspect 10 days ago and investigators said they aren't sure if the man depicted in the two sketches is the same person.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477), or text to 274637. Informants are not required to give their name or any other identifying information to be eligible for a $25,000 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspects.
