NORTH LAWNDALE — DNAinfo.com reported that a man was fatally shot in the chest in North Lawndale Tuesday morning, police said.
Cops said the 51-year-old victim was outside in the 1300 block of South Christiana Avenue about 9:20 a.m. when a man got out of a black SUV, walked up to him and fired, striking the victim multiple times in the abdomen and chest.
The man was later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Curtis Porter, of the 600 block of South Wabash Avenue.
The suspect then fled the scene in the SUV with an accomplice behind the wheel, police said. Cops said a drug deal gone awry might have led to the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing.
