Man Shot During Carjacking in Bronzeville Neighborhood

    An alleged carjacker shot a man in the leg while taking his cash and his minivan Monday night, police said.

    The shooting happened just outside the victim's green Mercury Villager on the 440 block of East 49th Street, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

    The alleged carjacker drove off in the minivan at about 9:45 p.m., but police found the vehicle abandoned shortly after on the 6700 block of South East End Avenue, Greer said.

    The minivan's owner, who is 23, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

    Area Central detectives are investigating.
