Introducing the Chicago Defender Digital Daily

For the past 107 years, The Chicago Defender’s continued mission has been to provide the best in news and information to meet the community’s ever changing needs. Whether is was fighting segregation in the early part of the century, heralding opportunities and jobs or following the historic rise of the first African American President from Chicago, the Defender continues as the voice for an evolving culture. And, not being a publication to rest on our laurels, we are driven by an unwavering commitment to remain “thought leaders” in a new media era, creating fresh and exciting ways to engage you.

To that end, I am pleased to introduce the Chicago Defender Digital Daily, our daily e-newsletter that summarizes the news and information you’re most interested in and offering it on the device of your choice. Delivered every afternoon, the Digital Daily will aggregate what’s hot and trending in Politics, Business, Sports, Technology and Entertainment atboth the local and national level from a variety of sources.

Today’s news and information cycle moves at blinding speeds. Joining television, cable and radio are new on line and digital technologies and applications including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, all dispensing information at sometimes an overwhelming rate, and you know what?

If you blink, you’ll miss it.

We at the Chicago Defender aren’t blinking. In fact, we’ve got our eyes and ears everywhere, particularly here in Chicagoland. We’re taking the pulse of what matters to you and delivering it every day …where you live, work, and play!

The Chicago Defender Digital Daily is our leap into digital and just one on a list of upcoming products that we plan to offer you to meet your news and media needs. And of course we will continue to deliver our award winning weekly newspaper just as we have for over 107 years.

We are thrilled with the direction of the Chicago Defender and our other Real Times Media brands as we make this leap into the new digital age. We invite you to experience the journey with us by visiting www.Chicagodefender.com and signing up today for the Chicago Defender Digital Daily.

Best,

I look foward to receiving the Chicago Digital Daily Defender, because I will be afforded the opportunity to have easier access to important information impacting neighborhoods in the African American community, throughout Chicago, and beyond.

I am hopeful that, at some time in the future, there will be some consideration given to, again, including a "crossword" puzzle, as a daily feature. The theme of the puzzle could focus on African American History.

Congratulations.
