American Coney Island, home of the iconic Detroit Coney Dog, recently opened its first out-of-state location at the D Las Vegas. As part of the dramatic transformation taking place at the new downtown property, the D is excited to bring a taste of Detroit to the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas.
A favorite of Detroiters and visitors for nearly a century, American Coney Island is the oldest family-owned business in Detroit. Founder Gust Keros coined the phrase "Coney Dog" and introduced the now legendary treat to the city of Detroit in 1917. The high-quality, specially seasoned, natural-casing Dearborn sausage brand hotdog is topped with the Keros family secret recipe Coney Island Chili Sauce, fine mustard and sweet chopped onions, and served in a warm steamed bun. The restaurant has continued to attract loyal patrons from every generation in Detroit and around the country.
American Coney Island has been featured on "The Today Show," Iron Chef Michael Symon's "Food Feuds" on the Food Network and The Travel Channel's "Food Wars."
The D welcomes the flavors of American Coney Island and invites guests to enjoy the newest addition to downtown Las Vegas. Menu items will include the iconic Coney Dog, chili cheese fries, gyros and more.
"For our first venture outside of Michigan, we can't think of a better place for us to call home than the D Las Vegas," said Grace Keros, third generation owner of American Coney Island. "The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so casino patrons will be able to experience Detroit Coneys and have another great option for all day, all night dining."
The addition of American Coney Island is part of the property's dramatic transformation from its former identity as Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel to the D Las Vegas. The newly renovated property will feature an entirely new gaming experience and 638 remodeled contemporary rooms and suites.
