The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art’s 1st Wednesday celebration Wednesday, Aug. 2 is themed “Memphis Rocks.” The evening’s activities (6-9 p.m.) is inspired by the new exhibit Annie Leibovitz: American Music, which is on view through Aug. 27.

Leibovitz is a noted photographer, who shot a great deal of the pictures featured in Rolling Stone magazine.

Brooks Chief Curator Marina Pacini will speak about the exhibition in the galleries at 6:15 p.m. In keeping with the Memphis theme, Elvis impersonator Danny Spinosa will perform his “Memories of Elvis” show at 6:30 p.m. The Beale Street Flippers will show off their awe-inspiring gymnastics. At 8 o’clock director Brandon Hutchinson will introduce his film Dollars and Signs, which was shot entirely in Memphis.

Blue Hawaii cocktails will be the night’s signature drink. The Brushmark Restaurant will be serving dinner from 6-8:30 p.m., featuring Rock Shrimp-Stuffed Deviled Eggs with Applewood Bacon, Ahi Tuna with Grilled Fennel-Citrus Slaw, and T-bone Steak with Warm Bleu Cheese Potato Salad.

Admission is free for members and $6 for non-members.
