The Expo will feature over 75 vendors focusing on health screenings and health information as well as safety exhibits and demonstrations, all with a Back to School focus. There will also be a free school supply giveaway, plus plenty of food and fun for the entire community. Hickory Ridge Town Centre is located at 6075 Winchester at Hickory Hill Rd.
“While we will offer all the standard health screenings there will be fantastic safety information addressing domestic violence, fire safety, disaster preparedness, DUI exhibits, driving safety and much more,” said Jimmie Haley, Hickory Ridge’s Director of Economic Development. “Plus, parents should bring their school age children for the medical, dental and vision screenings they need for back to school.”
Other health screenings will include blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and bone density. Attendees can also receive spinal exams and learn more about how to understand and get the most from their prescriptions. Several health organizations will have booths providing information about specific diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Healthy eating and the importance of exercise will be covered as well.
Mid-South Safe Kids, the Red Cross Safety House, Teddy Bear First-Aid Clinic and others will be there to give special child safety tips with information given on a level they can understand. The Memphis Police and Fire Departments and several other civic and wellness organizations will provide safety education as well.
There will be plenty of fun for children too, including carousel rides, a bounce house, face painting and more. Parents will find great back to school specials within the various stores in the Hickory Ridge Mall Towne Centre.
