The presentation at the hospital was a follow-up to a recent ceremony in Grapevine, Texas, where the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, recognized Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis and 306 other hospitals across the country for achieving and sustaining national goals for donation, including a donation rate of 75 percent or more of eligible donors in 2010.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis works with MSTF to implement known, national best practices on a local level for increasing organ donors. There are more than 110,000 individuals on the national waiting list for an organ transplant.
MSTF is the not-for-profit federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) for the Mid-South area. For more information, visit www.midsouthtransplant.org
