Mayor AC Wharton and Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell have declared Sunday, April 10 as the Eleventh Annual LeMoyne-Owen College Sunday (LOC Sunday) in Memphis and Shelby County.  Mayor AC Wharton and Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell have declared Sunday, April 10 as the Eleventh Annual LeMoyne-Owen College Sunday (LOC Sunday) in Memphis and Shelby County.

On LOC Sunday, the mayors are asking the faith community to support the College by helping to recruit students and assisting in raising funds to support scholarships and school projects. LOC Sunday also provides an opportunity to showcase the talents of students and to recognize the many accomplishments of the alumni.

The celebration begins at the Cannon Center (downtown) with an Art Exhibit presented by LeMoyne-Owen College Visual and Graphics Design students from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The doors to the auditorium will open at 3:30 p.m., and the program will begin promptly at 4 p.m. During a Celebration of Talent, LOC students from the Division of Fine Arts and Humanities will deliver performances of music, poetry, dramatic presentations, dance, and more! The evening’s special guest is the Grammy Award winning Vickie Winans.

The Faith community throughout the Mid-South is urged to support the students and the College by bringing their congregations and gifts of support to the free event.  Although the event is free, a ticket will still be needed to attend.

For tickets, call 901-435-1527.

Gifts of support also may be mailed – no later than June 30 – to LeMoyne-Owen College, Office of Institutional Advancement, 807 Walker Avenue, Memphis, TN 38126.
