Vocalist Toni Green to headline Juneteenth festival

Memphis songstress Toni Green has been tapped to headline the roster of talent at this year’s 18th Annual Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival. Memphis songstress Toni Green has been tapped to headline the roster of talent at this year’s 18th Annual Juneteenth Freedom & Heritage Festival.

“Isn’t that some something,” said Green, thrilled that she will receive top billing at the festival, which will feature R&B, hip-hop, old school, classical, Neosoul and gospel during the June 17-19 run.

Green also performed at Juneteenth in 2008.

This year’s Juneteenth Festival salutes the Divine Nine, a collaborative of fraternities and sororities: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity. The group is associated with the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc., an umbrella organization now based in Decatur, Ga.

The festival will be held in Douglass Park at 1616 Ash St., is free.
