WMC-TV 5 in Memphis has announced the addition of "Action News 5" to BOUNCE Memphis. Viewers can now watch "Action News 5" on BOUNCE weekdays at 7 a.m.
Bounce Memphis (http://bouncetv.com), the nation's first-ever over-the-air broadcast television network designed for African-American audiences, is aired on WMC-TV 5's digital channel 5-2 and Comcast channel 906.
The daily newscast on BOUNCE Memphis is tailor-made for the Memphis television viewer and is the start of something bigger according to WMC-TV 5 Vice President and General Manager Lee Meredith.
"We're happy to be able to provide high quality news programming that serves the community," said Meridith. "We're approaching this newscast as the beginning of even more locally produced programming with our viewers' needs in mind."
The hour-long newscast is anchored by Memphis news veteran Kym Clark, Traffic Tracker Janeen Gordon, and Meteorologist Ron Childers. The team uses the latest technology to track storms and traffic around the Mid-South and provide the latest headlines and breaking news.
"The unique angle of the BOUNCE newscast is the addition of in-depth interviews with local and national newsmakers," said "Action News 5" News Director Tammy Phillips. "You never know who might show up!"
In addition to the 7 a.m. newscast, WMC will also simulcast "Action News 5" at 6 a.m. on BOUNCE Memphis.
