Always something to do in Memphis!

Myron-Mays-160

"Oh there's nothing to do in Memphis." I hear people say that far too often.

Or here's another one: "You have to go out of town to have a good time."

THAT'S NOT TRUE!

Actually, there's always something to do in Memphis. There are more events than we have days in the week. You don't even have to do a lot of due diligence. I've actually done that for you.

So, grab your pen and calendar, start writing and then decide what you're going to wear.

Friday

South Main Trolley Night: Each and every last Friday of the month Trolley night takes place in the South Main Arts District in Downtown Memphis. It's a great time to browse the various stores and art galleries along South Main while checking out wines and tasty party eats. Trolley rides are also free. For more information, visit www.southmainmemphis.net. This is always a lot of fun.
Xclusive Memphis Anniversary: While you're already on South Main, you can join Xclusive Memphis at 7 p.m. for the 1-year anniversary of www.xclusivememphis.com. Drop by KPreSha Boutique located at 323 S. Main in Downtown. Enjoy their wonderful desert bar.

Saturday

What's Happening Book Club: Join me Saturday for the WHM Book Club meeting. We're gonna be at Evergreen Grill at 1585 Overton Park at 4 p.m. We've been reading "Casting the First Stone" by Kimberla Lawson Roby. This is the first in her Reverend Curtis Black Series. There are 10 of them and we will be reading them throughout the year. Great door prizes and great food! Grab the book and join us.
Sexy Saturday at Club Addiction: It's Sexy Saturday and Club Addiction presents the Aquarius Birthday Bash this Saturday Night! Doors open at 9 p.m. and the first 50 ladies get in for only $5. Birthdays free all night! Otherwise, admission is $10. BYOB, cash bar and no one under 21, of course. Call 901-365-9949 to RSVP!

Sunday

Really? Shouldn't you be resting today?

Monday

Martini Mondays at the Ice Bar: The Ice Bar has "2 for 1" mixed drinks and "3 for 1" Martinis on Mondays...yes, 3 for 1! Doors open at 5 p.m. and goes until...you know when that is. Admission is free. It's located at 4202 Hacks Cross.

Tuesday

Twisted Tuesdays at Blu: Each and every week Blu Restaurant and Bar hosts Twisted Tuesday. Must be 21 and up to attend. It kicks off at 6 p.m. For table reservations, call 901-417-3110. Admission is free until midnight and a semi dress code will be enforced! The Blu Restaurant and Bar is located at 3895 Hacks Cross.

Wednesday

Hump Day Wednesdays at Memphis Sounds: Join Bluff City Productions each and every Wednesday evening for Hump Day Wednesdays at Memphis Sounds. Admission is free. Hors deurves are free and so is the NETWORKING! Great music, vibes and door prizes. Come on out and hang! Memphis Sounds is located at 22 North Third in Downtown Memphis.

Thursday

Neo Soul Revue at the Ice Bar: If you love Neo Soul, you're gonna love the music as Tamara Jones Monger & Bamboo Forrest perform this Thursday night. Also, if you love New Orleans seafood, you're also gonna love the food that includes crab legs, shrimp and gumbo. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Free admission until 7 p.m. and $7 afterwards. The Ice Bar is located at 4202 Hacks Cross.

Parting shot

So there you have it. The next time you hear someone say that there's nothing to do in Memphis, just direct them to the "What's Happening" man...I'll take it from there.
Next week, I'm all over Superbowl Sunday. As of right now, I have no idea who will be playing, but I will have the inside info on where the parties are gonna be! Until then, that's what's happening...
