Looks like it was another great Southern Heritage Classic (SHC) Weekend in the city. SHC founder Fred Jones Jr. did it – again – with Classic No. 22. If you seriously couldn’t find anything to do this past weekend, maybe staying home really was the best thing for you.
For the rest of us, there was great music, sports and other entertainment galore. Kem, Anthony David and The O’Jays all put on great shows. And along Tiger Lane and at other tailgate spots near Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, fired-up grills did what they do, filling the air with the tantalizing smells of barbecue.
Oh yeah, there was the game also, and it was hot too. Hey, I told you the Tigers were gonna win, didn’t I?

Ledisi returns to Memphis
My girl Ledisi is returning to Memphis in October and honestly, I can’t get enough of her. I will be going to see her for the third time. She’ll be performing at the Cannon Center on Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. Her latest song, “Pieces of Me,” is one of my favorite songs. I just have to make sure I sing with the windows up when it comes on the radio. It’s not really a very manly song. (lol) You can get your tickets by going to www.ticketmaster.com or all Ticketmaster outlets and the Cannon Center Box Office.
