I don’t get ‘planking’

There has been a phenomenon of sorts to enter pop culture in the past few weeks. Perhaps you may have heard of “planking.” Here is one thing I am not ashamed to shout in public: ”I don’t get it.”

There has been a phenomenon of sorts to enter pop culture in the past few weeks. Perhaps you may have heard of “planking.” Here is one thing I am not ashamed to shout in public: ”I don’t get it.”

Planking can be pretty much described as someone lying face down with arms to the sides in random places, taking pictures and posting them online. Some say it originated in Australia. No matter where it sprung up, I doubt that it took a genius to create such a sensation.

Honestly, I think my parents would have loved for me to go planking as a kid. That would have been the only way I would have sat still for an extended amount of time. However, I just can’t understand how anyone could be entertained by doing – or watching – it. But, maybe I’m just different.

If you would like to get a good idea of how far people have been taking this, just search Planking on Facebook. It actually has FANS!

Believe it or not, there have been planking injuries and reported deaths. So, if you decide to plank, please be safe.

Spike Lee on Hollywood

Spike Lee is at it again. First it was his thoughts on Tyler Perry and now he’s voicing his thoughts on the Oscars.

Lee says that he hasn’t made a film in over three years because he has not been able to get financing for a sequel to his biggest film, “Inside Man.” He went on to say that the individuals who vote on the Academy Awards normally make bad calls.

“In 1989, ‘Do the ‘Right Thing’ was not even nominated for best picture,” said Lee, with some mock outrage.
“What film won best picture in 1989? ‘Driving Miss Mother F—ing Daisy!’ That’s why the Oscars don’t matter,” said Lee. “Because 20 years later, who’s watching ‘Driving Miss Daisy?’”

Spike Lee seems to keep a chip on his shoulder about something. As a matter of fact, he seems to have an issue about everything except making a GOOD film, something he has not done in quite a while. Not a good look Spike…

Fantasia, Fantasia, Fantasia

Wow. I thought that particular saga was over. What saga might you ask?

The saga of Fantasia and Antuan Cook. Remember that guy? Of course you do. He was the married guy that Fantasia nearly killed herself over a few months ago. The same guy whose wife was getting ready to sue her over.

Well, it seems that Fantasia and Cook were spotted vacationing in the Bahamas recently.  Ok, seriously, I’ve been in love before…on more than one occasion. I can’t say that anyone I have been with ever made me what to go to the extreme measures to which Fantasia has traveled. However, if it did happen, I don’t think I would want to take myself back to that same situation.

This must be one of those situations that only can be understood by the lovebirds in question.
