AARP invites Memphians to come out Saturday (Nov. 10) for a day full of free health screenings, resources and fun designed to help families get healthy and stay healthy.
The 2012 Memphis C.A.R.E.S. Health & Wellness Community Event is free and has something to offer folks of all ages, with games for the kids and grandkids, prizes, refreshments and more – including the Chick-Fil-A cow! C.A.R.E.S. is an acronym for community, awareness, resources, education and support.
The event will be at Greater Memphis Pentecostal Assembly at 8941 East Shelby Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You can get your cholesterol, blood sugar and body mass index checked by the folks from Baptist Memorial Health Care. Walgreens will offer flu shots and blood pressure screenings. MLGW (Memphis Light, Gas and Water) will have utility assistance information and the Aging Commission of the Mid-South can help folks with Medicare open enrollment. Plus there will be group fitness and line dancing with Answorth Robinson!
"Please visit our tent to learn more about how AARP 'cares' for you and your families, working within the community to offer awareness about important topics and the resources, education and support you need to help you deal with them," said AARP Tennessee Multicultural Outreach Director Andrea Neely.
