Tyke T, the current winner of K97’s next big thing and The Memphis Grizzlies Showcase champion, recently took to the national stage as a competitor in the VH1 “Make a Band Famous” competition.
Hundreds of bands entered the competition by submitting a 15-second Instagram performance clip. Fans then voted for their favorite bands and the top 24 were chosen to compete in New York for a shot at a record contract with Republic Records and a VH1 “you ought to Know” campaign. The contestants then had to compete in a various challenges during a 24-hour live stream on VH1.com.
Tyke T and the 4Soul band ended the contest in the top 8! Praise from the judges throughout the competition included singer/songwriter Natasha Beddingfield saying “Tyke was her favorite of the night” and Robert Schwartzman adding that the performance (of his original song ‘NoO’) was polished and that the song was “commercially viable and ready to go, Perfect.”.
Tyke T is scheduled to be the opening act for hip-hop artist, B.O.B. on June 20th at Minglewood Hall. Tickets are available at www.minglewoodhall.com
